La Route des vins - The Wine Road

Sutton is a great base for visiting Quebec's first designated wine route : La Route des vins.

  • The first vineyards started production over 35 years ago in the nearby Dunham Valley here in the Eastern Townships. Today 18 wineries offer their wines for tasting and purchase two of which are located in Sutton.
  • Established in 2003 the La route des vins was the first of its sort to be signposted in Quebec and today the 132 kilometre trail links 18 vineyards. Along the way you can also find local produce, picnic spots and art galleries.
  • The web site www.laroutedesvins.ca suggests cycling and driving circuits and has details of all the vineyards.
  • Some wineries are open year-long. However, from mid-November to mid-April, it’s best to call to check their opening hours before visiting.
